The Steelers are currently playing the Giants (my friend Mike in California had to IM me about it, though...apparently now that college football is taking a break, they're playing pro games on Saturdays, but it wasn't something that had occurred to me).
Rooting for the Steelers, of course, is out of the question.
Rooting for the Giants means supporting a team that:
1) Is from New York 2) Is a favorite of most Yankees fans 3) Has a member of the Manning family at the helm.
When I first tuned in it was 30-26 Giants. Eli and Co. had just driven down the field for a TD.
Shortly after I tuned in, Jerome Bettis rumbled into the end zone after a dazzling catch by Randel El to make it first and goal.
Manning then threw some short, sharp passes for first downs, which gave me a little hope, but he then attempted a long pass along the sidelines and was promptly intercepted.
A challenge by coach Tom Coughlin brought the runback of the interception back to the Steelers' 18, but...
My coworker who's a Steelers fan is at the game today. It would be nice for him to see a win.
Then again, he'd rub it in all week.
