Phew. There. Hopefully it's out of my system now.
A much better game tonight. Two taters for Papi, a monstrous blast for Manny. The boos seem to fuel him--sometimes I think that boy's dumb like a fox.
My personal favorite moment, though was Trot's catch.
It's scored thusly in ESPN's play by play: B Broussard hit sacrifice fly to right, A Cora scored, G Sizemore to third, C Crisp to second.
Whoa, whoa. Back up.
B Broussard hit sacrifice fly to right...That thing was hardly a sac fly when it came off the bat. It went rocketing for the right field corner in that way, that way where most of the time, you can assume home run, and most of the time, you're right. He got under it and all over it. It was headed for home-run country.
A Cora scored, G Sizemore to third, C Crisp to second...Yeah, yeah, sure, sure. The most important part was right in the middle there. The part they don't write about, the part that says, B Broussard hit sacrifice fly to right, Trot Nixon got a bead on it and jumped, jumped, jumped, letting the ball hit his glove right at the perfect apex of his leap...and then he fell back to the ground and hucked the ball back in and chewed his gum in that way he has, and in Lowell, Mass., a woman far too in love with the Red Sox hugged her television...
