Two things I want for Christmas already:
- A transcript, or better yet, a video clip I can save to my iPod, of the "Lunar Eclipse" segment as replayed on the Rem-Dawg Unleashed show tonight.
- A video clip suitable for ripping to my iPod (the better to be able to watch it while traveling, or in waiting rooms) of the inning Denis Leary and Lenny Clark spent in the booth with Remy and Orsillo.
And here, have some screencaps.
P.S. I kick myself for not mentioning this earlier, but as SG pointed out,
there is simply no better chemistry to be found than what we've got between Rem and Don O. Seriously, watching the clips of some of the Dawg's previous co-conspirators -- even the great Sean McDonough -- gave me that deflated feeling you get when you come across a Shemp or Curly Joe episode. Or a Streets of San Francisco with Richard Hatch. Or a post-Ralph Malph Happy Days. Something just ain't clickin'. But with Orsillo, the Remster just seems so relaxed, so atop his game. The two complement each other like a perfect marriage, attaining that elusive Skipper-Gilligan synergy that makes even a 15-2 blowout at the hands of the Kansas City Royals worth sticking out.
As Iain put it, "I am convinced that Remdawg and Orsillo are one of the reasons I fell for the Sox--they are in tune with each other and in tune with the game. They know when to let rip and when to just shut the fuck up."
Rem-Dawg gets all the play, but Orsillo shouldn't be overlooked, either. If for no other reason than that he's a perfect foil for Remy. Watching Remy with Orsillo after the clips of him with previous partners, I got the sense that finally, he had found someone as psycho as he is, but in a different and complimentary way. In retrospect, you could see he was kind of holding back with previous partners. Orsillo just goes with it--they are a great team.
And finally, NESN has a short clip of part of the show--not the whole thing, I'm afraid, so the non-NESN afflicted will have to suffer some more. But, better than nothing.
