He's so widdle! Why can't we just steal him?! (found this photo here via GIS)
Glad I missed that one last night. But I officially covet Scott Kazmir. This is another one of my perennial arguments with my dad.
"I don't understand why he doesn't play for a real team," is what I say (ya like that arrogance?).
"Because!" my dad says with lots of aggravated gestures, "They're not gonna give him up!"
"But...it sucks. He shouldn't be stuck down there in Tampa Bay. He should play for us."
This is where the aggravated gestures grow even more intense. Sometimes there's even a slap of the forehead, which is when you know shit's up. "They're not. Gonna give. Him up! He's the one hope for the future of that entire team. They're not letting him go!"
"Well," is what I'll usually say, as if offering a grand compromise. "We'll just have to see."
Oh, and Happy Fourth, everybody.
Give him up? They just got him, as the Mets gave him up after his being hyped for years in their farm system.
And I thought I had a monopoly on the Kazmir/Zeppelin references:)

Man, Beth, don't even suggest such a thing. Another pitcher on the staff who's that young and that good... I might perish of the covetousness coursing through my veins.
