Today has been a great one for me as a Sox fan--as I read the coverage about Daisuke Matsuzaka making his first appearance at Sox camp, I officially began to fall in love with him in a way I fully expected, but hadn't gotten around to while busy worrying about the Patriots.
It was this quote that did it for me:
"First of all, I will keep getting trained without getting injuries," Matsuzaka said of his Spring Training preparations, which begin Saturday. "If that is the case, I would like to pitch a fastball. That will be my first [pitch] to throw. I would like my first batter, if he is listening, please try and not hit the ball."
Adorable. And how can you not love this smile:
Meanwhile, Brian alerted me to this news. Keith Foulke has hung it up for good. I'm not sure what to say except that it's probably for the best; and even as I move on to new baseball loves, The Once and Future Closer will always have a place in my heart.
