Daisuke Matsuzaka is legit. This guy is going to win games — a lot of games over the course of his Major League career. I had a chance to watch him on video before he arrived, but it wasn’t the same as getting to see his stuff in person.
This kid is polished. Pretty safe to say that you can take velocity–for power pitchers, anyway — and add anywhere from 2-5 mph at this point and get a feel for where they’ll be when it begins to count. He’s working at 90-92 with exceptional command, and I’ve seen three or more pitches in addition to his fastball.
Pretty cool stuff. I'm also intrigued by the passage in that same post where he says Tek called for a fastball to Cuddyer just before Cuddyer lost said fastball in the stands and Schill was lifted in his last ST start...not sure if he's saying Tek shouldn't have called the pitch or if it was his fault for wavering on it (he called it a "misplaced" fastball and described himself as wavering on the call). Maybe both.
Regardless of what he says, it's going to be fun--provided he keeps up with it, of course--to hear from Curt directly this season.
P.S. Apparently none are safe from Tom Brady's sperm...if true, things have officially gone from "odd" to "truly bizarre" in Brady-world. I mean...how does he manage to go so long undoubtedly hittin' crowds of groupies and then "whoops" knock up two women in the space of six months? How exactly does that happen? (Before any smart-asses chime in, I know how, technically, it happened--maybe the question is more why.)
