I wasn't going to watch any of the highlights of the HR Derby, but now I might just have to :-)

Actually, I believe Gammons said it was Brad Penny and Beckett who suggested that, which would make a bit more sense since they were teammates in Florida a few years ago. Either way, you have to admit it's an amusing idea, and I don't have much trouble picturing our dear #19 suggesting such a thing. Heh.

I was enamored with Vlad and his majestic homers too. And I just about keeled over at the bat presentation, then I felt an odd pride when Vlad immediately hit a homer with it. Funny how the camera kept finding Ortiz even though he was only a bystander this year. But then, how could it not? Papi has some powerful charisma.

A-Rod's practically the only person on Earth who can stand next to Barry Bonds and still seem like the bigger jerk.

Tell me about it. When the ESPN guys were interviewing him and I first saw the suit I said, "WTF is he doing wearing a suit?" Then he said on air that he had dinner reservations in an hour. Nice. Here are all these big name players having fun and enjoying the festivities and A-Rod apparently couldn't wait to get out of there. What an ass.

Seriously, Beth, a season of fantasy baseball will cure you of your "East Coast myopia" once and for all!

Oh, and did A-Rod mention which one of Heidi Fleiss' ladies he was taking to dinner after the Derby?
