Article in the Herald about the new "Misery Index" report for Boston (hint: it's not good), along with interestingly placed / themed advertisement.
ETA - and on THAT note, the Sox drop two of three to the stupid BJs. Thanks a pantload, guys. No joy today, I guess.
P.S. Speaking of opiates (or opiate-like, insidiously addictive radio formats), I'm already on record as saying Boston needs another sports talk radio station like a fish needs a freakin' bicycle. Breaking into a market beyond dominated by WEEI is a tall order. But if the new WBZ that's replacing WBCN thinks it's going to survive against the 800-lb gorilla by hiring away some of its employees and becoming 'EEI Part Deux, I think even Red's six-month forecast is a little generous. Their only hope is to give those of us who kicked the 'EEI habit years ago a more intelligent, less shrill alternative - so far it doesn't appear they're going in that direction.
Great to know that's the reason there's going to be less music on our airwaves, eh?

I no longer livin inthe Boston area, but I (used to) try to tune into 'BCN whenever I am close enough in Southern NH. They were the soundtrack of my college years. I'm sorry to hear the station will be no longer available.

I just want to listen to sports news on the way to work. Is that too much to ask?

Nope, not too much to ask. But might be better to ask the existing sports talk station first why they have a Rush Limbaugh wannabe spouting politics in the morning spot instead of sports talk...

Is Jonathan Papelbon one of the best ever? I have proof suggesting he is.
