If reports are correct, far be it from me to turn down the top free-agent starting pitcher available, as well as the kind of big gutsy move we've been waiting to see the Sox make in the off-season. Far be it from me to look askance at a rotation that includes Beckett, Lester, and the pitcher who whupped our asses in last year's ALDS.
But on a personal note, this is another one it's going to take some definite getting used to. He'll hopefully have some innocuous explanation for the whining he did after the 08 playoff series, like that he was drugged and / or replaced with a body double. And at the very least, he'll hopefully never do such a thing again, at least not while wearing a Boston uniform.
P.S. Want to make clear that though my knee-jerk reaction was to get sentimental about Mike Lowell, it's not that I don't get why they traded him. He could barely move last season and had already been extended once. And God knows we need some backup at catcher.

We A's fans, not a huge fan of Mr. Lackey, call him "Slingblade". (For obvious reasons)
That doesn't mean he's not any good, or that he likes "french fried pertaters"... but I've never seen his mouth closed.
