So this whole Mark Buehrle thing. Do what ya gotta do, I guess--apparently Curt's that bad off and Lester's not getting out of Triple A, this year, that's what that kind of trade would mean, at this point, right? Or there's at least a strong enough possibility of both those things happening to warrant a trade for insurance / bet hedging against them?
I just have one request, of you, of whatever baseball gods are listening. Just please do not let them take away Clay Buchholz. Please.
That is all.
Sincerely,
Beth
Dear Boston Red Sox,
Ditto.
Oh, and that goes for Jacoby Ellsbury, too.
Maybe you can pay somebody to take Julio Lugo?

Or Jacoby Ellsbury, por favor.

If they trade Buchholz, it would be the exact type of idiotic short-sighted desperaton move that has gotten the Yanks into trouble in recent years. So yeah, they'll probably trade Clay. (I'm a pessimist in general.)

Buchholz's line yesterday: 6.1 IP, 4H, 1ER (and that one was due to a reliever, fan interference, and general weirdity), 1BB, 11K.
Are you out there, Theo, can you hear this?

Oh, and Beth, I just spent a long time cruising through all your photos and I had to comment again just to say how much I love them. I love them.

Appealing to the Baseball Gods never worked for me, but maybe you'll have better luck ;). Sometimes it seems like teams get all excited trying to plug a leak and do something stupid and rash. By the way, when you write new blog posts, go over to BeTheRef.com and post a link to your story, and hopefully get a little extra traffic for your blog.

If you are interested in Buchholz, check out the interview given to Jeffry at soxifan last Sunday (6/24/07):

When J identified himself as a blogger, the Fisher Cat management gave him press credentials and set up the interview! (The Cats are Toronto's AA club, I believe.)
