This past weekend, I had Christmas with both my immediate family and my in-laws, so the week everyone else is having this week, of frantic purchasing and baking and wrapping and mailing, I had last week.
And so Murphy's Law of Blogging, as usual, kicked in -- last week the Sox acquired Bobby Jenks, adding a third closer to the bullpen and upping the Doug-Mirabelli factor (think Dougie's Day) around Fenway by 1000%. Quoth Beard O'Truth on Facebook: "The 2011 Red Sox will double-steal and triple-close your ass." But by now, the blog-writing ship has sailed on that one. And, of course, this week so far: tumbleweeds.
Plus, with early Christmases last weekend, I believe my brain went into early vacation shutdown mode as well. And so, since I don't have the wherewithal to write much, and nobody this week has time to read much, I thought I'd take this time to mine my thousands (literally) of Sox photos on Flickr.
I'll pull some out on a theme each day, in order to look back on the hard fightin' 2010 Sox before we're all completely overcome giggling with glee over the 2011 roster, and to sate that Fenway jones I'm sure all of us are living with here in deep, dark winter. Hope you enjoy.
Today's theme: a brief homage to the dearly departed Victor Martinez:
This was when V-Mart was struck on his already-broken thumb by Jose Bautista's backswing.
He stayed in the game. He almost always stayed in the game.
Adventures in fielding at first base.
Sox fans made their preference for Varitek known when it came to managing the pitching staff,
but V-Mart held his own on that front, too...
Best: -2001 Yankees because of their segrntth following 9/11. -It pains me to say this but 2004 Red Sox because they came all the way back. -2008 Rays because they gained lots of respect following a losing season. -2009 Yankees because they broke so many records.
