Shamus

Bobby Valentine might like to saw away at the issue, but networks like ESPN, Fox and TBS love these long games. As long as they can get 3 hours of game time to fill up the 8-11pm time slot, advertisers will be pleased. Of course, fans who want to see a whole game get screwed, especially those who go the the ballpark and don't get home until 1:30am on a Sunday night.

I don't understand why MLB doesn't take real action to improve the pace of games. And I don't understand why it lets broadcast networks dictate that the first pitch be thrown so late at night (8:20, 8:25pm) for a nationally broadcast game. It's unfair to fans, especially during the World Series when every game routinely ends at midnight or later. If the NFL can wrap up the Superbowl by 10:30 or 11pm, why can't the MLB close out a playoff game before midnight?
