Maybe I need to start writing more schmoopy 'goodbye' posts to players I want the Red Sox to keep. As of two weeks ago, I took for granted that V-Mart would stay, and Varitek would leave. We all know how V-Mart worked out.
And now:
Meanwhile, reports are circulating that Adrian Beltre may sign with Oakland imminently, and the Sox are going after Carl Crawford. Should they sign Jayson Werth instead? Or both?
Speaking of Crawford, isn't the priority for this offseason supposed to be power hitter(s) to back up Papi in the lineup? Don't we already have at least a couple dozen speedy hit-for-average outfielders on the roster and in the minor leagues? Or might we be getting rid of one or a few soon, if reports of outfielder acquisitions turn out to be correct?
As sentimentally happy as I am to see Tek back, is Jarrod Saltalamacchia really going to be our Opening Day catcher? Meanwhile, seriously, who the F is gonna play third base?
And when do pitchers and catchers report again?
